YARN DESCRIPTION:
   Bernat Baby Softee; acrylic; machine wash/dry
AMOUNT OF YARN REQUIRED TO MAKE GARMENT:
--- WARNING.  THIS IS A ROUGH ESTIMATE ONLY.  Measure a sample piece for a more accurate calculation.       8.7 Ounces TOTAL

GAUGE DATA:
   Gauge (sc over 4 in = 10 cm): 18.0 sts by 18.0 rows.
      Body crocheted using # F US hook.
      Ribbing crocheted on # E US hook.

FINISHED DIMENSIONS: (ins): ... with Comfortable fit.
Chest:  22.0   Top Neck Opening:   5.5            Length:  16.5
Front Neck Width:   2.8           Hem Len:   0.5
Front Neck Depth:   1.7      Skirt Bottom:  33.1
Armhole:   8.7     Sleeve Length:   7.3

Note:  Read ALL these instructions thoroughly BEFORE starting to crochet.  Bodice pieces are worked first, the sleeves are worked next, and the skirt is worked last.
Stitches used: ch [chain], moss stitch, sl st [slip stitch], sc [single crochet], dec [decrease], inc [increase], shell st [5 dc in one st], rsc [reverse single crochet]

Row 3 is front of garment.

BACK bodice:  F hook
1.  Chain 53 sts using size F hook.  Moss stitch across.
2.  Work moss stitch for 17 rows.
3.  Mark this row at both ends for armhole.
4. Work even in moss stitch for 4.4 ins more (44 rows total). Work last row in sc. Tie off.

FRONT:   F hook
1-2  Follow steps 1 and 2 as for back.
3.  Armhole.    Mark this row at both ends for armhole.  Continue until armhole measures 2.7 ins (33 rows total).
4. Shape neck. Work one side first, then the other side.  Work 20 sts in moss stitch.  Dec at neck edge only on rows 35 through 41.  13 sts remaining.
5. Row 42 – 43,  work even in moss stitch
6. Row 44 – work even in sc. End off.
7. Work other side to match, dec only at neck edge of rows. End off.
8. Sew shoulder seams.

SLEEVES:    F hook
1.  Right side facing, attach yarn with sc at far left marked st [far right for left handed crocheters], work 42 evenly spaced sc across armhole to other marked st.
2.  Work in moss stitch for rest of sleeve.
3.  Dec rows: 11, 15, 19, 22, 27, 31, 34,
4. Change to CC yarn, work 1 row of sc [28 sc].
5. Change to E hook. Ribbing: ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across.  #Sl st in ea of 1st two sts on body of sleeve, turn. Do not ch.  Work 1 sc in back loops only across sc of previous row. Ch 1, turn. Work in back loops only, sc across previous row.#.    Repeat # to # for ribbing. At end of row, end off.
6. Work other sleeve to match.

SKIRT BACK:  F hook
1. Right side of work facing.  Holding the dress piece upside down, attach yarn with sc in first loose loop of starting ch at waist.  Work  sc in next st, #ch 1, sk 1 st, sc in next 2 sts#, repeat across, end with 1 sc in last loop. 52 sc.
2. Work in seed st for skirt. Increase 4 sts evenly across row on these rows: 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, 35. End with r 37, end on wrong side.
3. Hem. F hook.  Work sc in first st,  #sk next st, shell in next st, sk next st, sc in next st#, across to end of row. End with sc. End off.
 

SKIRT FRONT: as for skirt back.

Sew side seams and sleeve seams.

Neck
1. Attach yarn with sc in side seam, evenly sc around so that work lays flat, and is not ruffled. Join with sl st in first sc.
2. Ch 1, work 1 row of rsc around entire neckline, join with sl st, end off.
3. Weave in all loose ends.

Optional
1.  Use ribbon to weave through ‘lace holes’ at waist, or make a chain long enough to do the same thing. Or, you can leave as is.
