Easy Hawaiian Burger  July 2008

Ingredients:
Ground beef [formed into patties], or chicken breasts [boneless and skinless]
Teriyaki sauce
Pineapple rings [canned is fine]
Swiss cheese slices [the highest quality you can afford, and yes, it does make a difference!]
Hamburger buns

We've made this with both ground beef and chicken breasts, and it's good either way.

Grill the ground beef patties or chicken breasts till nearly done [2-4 minutes from being done]. Add a layer of teriyaki sauce, and
cook for 2 more minutes. If you like a lot of teriyaki sauce, flip the hamburger/chicken, add more sauce, and cook for an
additional 2 minutes. Just be aware that the sauce on the bottom will glaze, which can make it harder to cut or bite thru.
Add one layer of Swiss cheese on top, and cook for another 2 minutes. Place on a hamburger bun, add one or more rings
of pineapple, and eat. We've found that it's safer to cut the burgers and eat with a fork, as the bun gets soggy from the pineapple,
and it will fall apart before you are even half way thru. We've also had frozen french fries [steak cut] cooked on the grill with
this meal, and it works out well.

What I like is to put the teriyaki sauce on the chicken, then place a pineapple ring on top, just before eating the sandwich.
The chicken doesn't get so tough and crusted this way. My husband prefers it to have it cooked on. Putting the cheese
on the chicken/beef while it's still on the grill works well either way.
